Don’t Manipulate the Statement

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob
Contrary to his Facebook posting stating otherwise, I claimed that Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was not targeting Chinese traders alone.

His statement was aimed to reprimand traders who refuse to reduce the price of goods even when the price of fuel has reduced to RM1.70. Not with any other agenda. The reprimand was aimed at all traders and not at traders of any particular race. He also suggested that consumers use their buying power to force traders to reduce the price of goods.

The actual misunderstanding happened because most of the business in Malaysia is holding by the Chinese community and some of the oppositions take this opportunity to manipulate the statement from Ismail Sabri.

If you look at the statement from MCA President Liow Tiong Lai, he clarified that what Ismail Sabri meant was stubborn Chinese traders who did not bring down prices despite fuel price cuts, and for consumers to band together to apply pressure.

After the statement from Ismail Sabri I heard some people are already lowering prices due to the pressure. This is a wonderful turnout for our Malaysian.

In the end, police will record Ismail Sabri's statement today in connection with investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code for uttering statements conducive to public mischief. Let’s police done their part and give a clear picture on the statement from Ismail Sabri.

Therefore, any disputes which could lead to racial polarization should not be prolonged as it will bring adverse effects to everyone.
